Depeche Mode – Everything Counts (Live, 1984)
I first became aware of Depeche Mode when their single “People Are People”—from 1984’s Some Great Reward—became a U.S. mainstream radio hit in 1985. I became a fan of theirs when I was exposed to their classic 1987 album, Music for the Masses, during many high school marching band bus trips. That’s when I started building a library of Depeche Mode’s earlier albums. I have to admit, though…I’m not that much into the early Vince Clarke-era DM. In fact, I’m not a fan of Clarke, in general, as I have never found the music of Yaz(oo) or Erasure all that interesting.
So, above, we have a video of Depeche Mode performing “Everything Counts” from 1983’s Construction Time Again at a show in Hamburg in 1984.
